The Symphonic Band is the top performing band at Truman. It is open by permission of the director only. Students in 10th, 11th & 12th grades are eligible. On occasion 9th graders are permitted to join, but only by permission of the director and in most cases after at least one semester of Varsity Band. This band participates in MSBOA band festival, graduation, homecoming & farewell assemblies, and other for other events. The music performed in this group ranges from grade 3 to 6. In additional to performing, this band will focus on developing knowledge of music theory. Students who participate and achieve in the Symphonic Band will have the tools necessary to take, and accel at a 100 level music theory class in college.
