The band council is appointed by the band director.  Voting by students may be requested by the band director.

All council officers are voting members. Council members' responsibilities include planning official

band events and handling individual responsibilities of their respective offices. The Council meets

regularly and is always open to all current band members. 

The Council is the official voice of the membership of the Bands at Truman High School.

Duties include: planning the band banquet awards, planning social functions outside of band,

President – organizes and schedules council meetings. Oversee the general meeting and voting. 

The strongest leader of the council.  Active in trying to further our cause.

Vice-President – handles all duties of the President if he/she is not present.  

Acts as the director of information for band students and parents. Active in trying to further our cause.

Secretary – Set-up messages for web site, band room, and PA announcements. 

Keep a log of the meetings and what was discussed.  Check to make sure things decided in the meetings are followed-up on.

Organizes and assists in all votes of the band council.

 Treasurer - Handles all monies involved with council (to be immediately turned into the band director).

Assists the VP with communication of information.  Assists the treasurer in following-up on things.

Librarian – organize music for distribution to classes.  Keep music library organized and database current.

Drum Major – Field commander who provides leadership and aids in making

ideas and projects happen by getting other students involved with planned activities. 

Assists in recruiting for the band program with focus on the marching band and middle school students.

Handles all marching band uniform distribution & collection.

Ambassador - Person who will be in charge of setting up social functions

for all band students with a focus on the marching band season.  This person must be in marching band and be

willing to make announcements (via school PA, chalk board, and band message board) in coordination

with the secretary.  This position is some what of a social director with other duties including recruiting and

embodying the spirit of the band.
